TRANSITIONS
In our dreams we feel ourselves flowing through space and time. Sometimes flying around freely, other times pulled down by a strong gravity that makes movement difficult.
Every moment in a dream is a moment of transition, usually caused by our emotional states. Emotions are the materials the dreams are made of, they form each dreamscape and dominate the dreamer's course in it. Eventually, all this reaches a crescendo which leads to the transition: Another dream, or the waking life.
This idea is illustrated here. We have transitions in forms - the figures, the materials this dreamscape is made of - and the final transition point through space and time, which is the gallaxy in the distance.
The materials of a Dream
Everything in this dreamscape is made of human forms. Each form's material and movements are dominated by their placement and role, caused by emotional states.
Below are listed the main species:
-Stone People
The stone people are heavy and deformed. Their emotions are intense, as they desire or despise each other. Eventually they tend to climb up to the bridge and reach the point of transition in space and time.
-Tree People
The similarity and harmony of their emotions makes them form a tree with their bodies, which moves its branches in happines and joy, or even dispair and agony.
-Water People
They are flowing like water, their bodies easily adapting to the surface that contains them - and so are their emotions. They are playful and glad of the light, but as they tend to gravitate downwards, they can reach the unseen depths of the dreamscape.
-Road People
The road people maintain more balanced emotional states. Flowing through the air, they form a bridge that leads to the transition point, which is the centre of the galaxy, behind the distant mountains.
Their course is not affected by the wonders and terrors of the dreamscape, unless someone pulls them down. Sometimes they reach to help the ones that are willing to join them. They have semitranslucent bodies, glowing in the light.
